StruCad turns architectural and structural engineering drawings into detailed workshop fabrication and erection drawings showing every steel member, connection, bolt and nut.
From initial architectural and structural design documentation every steel member and its connections are modelled up three dimensionally on a computer to ensure accuracy and compliance with structural integrity.
Once dimensions have been provided and imported in to the 3-D model, the skeletal structural steel framing can be scrutinised from any angle to ensure there are no physical clashes of steelwork, or that bolt access has been taken into consideration for ease of erecting steelwork on site. A series of pre-issue drawing checks is carried out once the 3-D model has been fully modelled, the 3-D model fly through and all workshop drawings are then automatically generated and general arrangement plans produced to guide erection of steelwork on site. For procurement purposes materials lists are generated for all steel members and bolts.
Free software is available to enable clients, structural engineers and designers to scrutinise the model and view drawings prior to formal issue on a project. The freeware is referred to as StruWalker 3-D model viewer and StruCad drawing viewer and can be downloaded directly from www.acecadsoftware.com.
